Going the Distance (and the Altitude): Adam Hogwood’s Year of Charity Challenges

At CHI Technology, we talk a lot about going above and beyond — and over the last 12 months, our very own Adam Hogwood has shown us exactly what that looks like, both in spirit and in action.

Adam has taken on not one, but two incredible physical challenges to raise money for charities close to his heart — and we couldn’t be prouder of what he’s achieved.

Challenge One: 100 Miles for Young Lives vs Cancer

In October last year, Adam committed to running 100 miles in just 31 days to raise money for Young Lives vs Cancer, a charity that supports children and young people with cancer, and their families.

It was far from easy.

Injuries, blisters, and daily limping around the office became a regular sight — but his determination never wavered. Powered by purpose and grit, Adam crossed the 100-mile finish line on the very last day of the month, raising £262 in the process.

Challenge Two: Skydiving 15,000ft for SMA UK

Fast forward to 2025, and Adam decided to aim a little higher — 15,000 feet higher, to be exact.

This June, Adam completed a skydive to raise money for SMA UK (Spinal Muscular Atrophy UK), an incredible charity that supports families affected by SMA and also happens to be a valued customer and neighbour of CHI Technology. That connection made the experience feel even more special to us all.

But once again, this challenge came with its own mountain to climb — or in this case, weight to lose. With a strict weight limit of 15 stone fully dressed, Adam needed to lose over a stone and a half (22 pounds) in just 3 months. Through intense focus, a strict diet of just 1,000 calories per day, and daily swimming sessions, he got there — and then quite literally took the leap.

So far, Adam has raised £450 for SMA UK, with donations still coming in.

Adam’s journey is a brilliant example of how passion, perseverance, and purpose can make a real difference — not just within CHI Technology, but beyond it.
